Our Publishing Calendar allows you to schedule and organize your upcoming content in a single place and ensure that everything is delivered on time. In addition to that, it's tightly integrated with other features that makes your content creation a seamless experience such as assigning users, changing status, and more!

In this article, we will provide you with a comprehensive guide on using EasyContent's Publishing Calendar to optimize your content management process and streamline your content creation and publishing workflow.

Let's get started!

To access the content calendar, look for "Calendar" in the account menu and click it. If you can't see it, you probably don't have access to this feature. If you believe that you should have access, please contact your account administrator.

Once you're on the calendar page, select the project you want to view using the project selection dropdown. The projects you can select depend on your permission and what projects you're assigned to. If you have the "manage projects" permission, you will be able to see all available projects in the current account.

💡If you are inside a project and you access the calendar page, you will be redirected to the calendar page with that project set as the active one.

Calendar Filters

Once you've selected a project, the filters will appear.

💡Only content items that have a due date on at least one of its workflow statuses will show up in the content calendar.

Status - this filter will display all content items with a due date for the selected status. For example, if you select "editorial review", the calendar will display all content items that have a due date for their "editorial review" status, regardless of whether they are currently in that status or not.

Current Status - this filter will display all content items that are currently in the selected status. For example, if you select "editorial review" here, only content items that are currently in that status will be displayed.

Assigned people - this filter will display all content items assigned to the selected user(s), even if the said content item's current status is assigned to a different user.

Template - this filter will display all content items that use the selected template(s).

Month and Week View

You can switch between the month or week view. Click on the tabs shown below to switch.

The month view provides a broad overview of your publishing calendar, allowing you to see important dates and events for the chosen month at a glance. The week view offers a more granular view of your schedule, making it easier to manage your daily tasks and deadlines for the chosen week.

Changing a Content Item's Due Date and Assigned Users

In the month view, click and drag on a content item to change its due date.

You can also click on a content item and the item detail popover will appear. Then, click on "manage deadlines" and you will be able to update its due dates or change its assigned users.

Item Details Popover

Let's take a better look at the item details popover.

The first section (#1) of this popover displays the target status of the content item on that date and the user who will be responsible for it at that time.

The second section (#2), tells us what the next status of the content item will be after the above status.

The third section (#3) tells us its current status and its due date.

Finally, at the bottom, is the manage deadlines link. When clicked, a modal window will open that lets you change the item's assigned users and due dates.

Creating Content Items

You can create new content items in the content calendar. To do so, click the green "Add item" button in the top right corner of the page.

You can also click on an empty space in a date to create a new content item:

if you do it this way, the content item will automatically have that date set as its first workflow's due date.

Creating Events

You can also add events to the content calendar. Click on an empty space in a date then click add event.

The create new event modal will appear to let you create your event.

Create new event modal
  • Title/summary - your event's name, e.g. "SEO workshop".
  • Date - start date and the optional end date. If no end date is selected, this will become a one-day event.
  • Description - your event's detailed description.
  • Color - select from a predefined set of colors to make it easier to distinguish among other events, especially if you have multiple ones.

Click the "create event" button and your event will be created.

An example event

Like content items, you can also drag and drop an event within the content calendar to adjust its start and end date. To edit an event, click it, then click "edit event".
