Custom Structure
This feature is available on all plans.
Users with manage structures permission can use this feature.
Using custom structure on a content item allows anyone with the manage structures permission to add or remove fields at will. This provides more freedom when it comes to creating content items as one can add or remove fields as they see fit.
ℹ️ Guest users currently don't have the ability to add or remove fields on content items using a custom structure.
To use a custom structure on a content item, you can set it to use a blank structure when creating it. You can also convert your existing content items to use a custom structure.
Using Custom Structure When Creating a Content Item
When creating a new content item, under the choose starting structure section, select blank (free-form).
Once the content item is created, you can access it and start adding fields to it.
Converting an Existing Content Item to Use Structures
If you have an existing content item and you wish to convert it into using a custom structure, you can easily do so without losing any of your work.
⚠️Once you convert a content item to use custom structure, you won't be able to convert it back to using a template. In addition to that, all previous versions will be deleted.
1. Access the content item you want to convert, and then on the right sidebar, under the controls tab, go to the item details widget.
2. From there, click the name of the current template. A modal should appear.
3. From that modal, click detach template. Notice how the template dropdown now says "None selected". After that, click the CHANGE TEMPLATE button to begin conversion.
4. The page will reload and the content item will be converted to using a custom structure. All fields and tabs (including empty ones) along with their current values or content are preserved and converted into matching custom fields.
